The City of Swainsboro’s Yam Grandy Water Pollution Control Plant has earned the Wastewater Facility Gold Award for 2024 from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals—marking the third consecutive year it has received this honor. The prestigious Gold Award is given to facilities managed by utility or corporate members that maintained full compliance with national pollutant discharge elimination system and pretreatment permits throughout the previous calendar year.
“We are excited to be receiving our third Gold Award from the GAWP organization,” said Chris Morton, the CWS Project Manager in Swainsboro. “I want to extend a special thanks to Supervisor Will Hutcheson, Lab Operator Wade Holcomb and all of the team in Swainsboro for a job very well done!”
The wastewater system has been operated by CWS since 2021 and includes a 3 MGD extended aeration treatment plant with clarifiers and aerobic digestion, five wells, 20 lift stations, and the collection system.
