CWS Announces New Partnership with Medical Properties Trust

ClearWater Solutions is excited to announce the creation of a new partnership between our company and Medical Properties Trust (MPT) — a leading global provider of capital to hospitals, and the second-largest non-governmental owner of hospitals in the world. CWS recently signed a contract to provide the operations of MPT’s water system as part of the new world class corporate headquarters facility currently under construction in Birmingham, AL. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

According to the company’s website, MPT’s desire is “to design a new corporate headquarters in metro Birmingham, AL that further advances the company’s long-term sustainability objectives. From the outset, the design and construction process has aimed to ensure that the facility preserves the natural environment, fulfills its own energy and potable water needs, creates an environment where employees can do their best work and fosters connection with the broader Birmingham community.”

While the building will certainly be an incredible environmentally-friendly facility, its water system will be only the second of its kind in the state. The system will recycle rainwater to meet potable water standards, with a 99% demand offset. It will require an Alabama Class IV operator to ensure the system is performing successfully and the permit requirements are met. The entire project will achieve LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

“This is an exciting and very unique project for CWS,” said Torrey Jones, CWS State Director for Alabama. “It is a testament to our team’s commitment to cultivating relationships and being responsive to a potential client. Allan Rice, our Business Development consultant, responded to an inquiry from the client and was able to earn their trust over the last year or so, resulting in our new contract.”

While CWS’s contract for operations begins September 1st, the facility will still be under construction which will allow our Operator to begin learning the processes before the water system goes online.
