Company Compliance Scores Exceed Industry Averages

Compliance is critical. In the water and wastewater industry, it is the mechanism that ensures public health, environmental protection, and operational efficiency. Compliance regulations aim to control the quality of water resources, manage pollutants, and ensure safe water treatment practices, while non-compliance can lead to significant legal, financial, and reputational consequences for companies, as well as negative impacts on ecosystems and communities.

Because of its significance, maintaining compliance is a top goal at ClearWater Solutions.  CWS team members work diligently to ensure compliance at each facility that we operate.  Bryce Mendenall, COO for the company, recently commended the entire operations staff, as well as the compliance team, on a remarkable last few months.  More specifically, the company-wide compliance score for the public projects in July 2024 was 99.5% and the private side was 93.9%!  Impressive numbers, especially considering the industry averages between 74-96% depending on the state.

So, what contributed to such high compliance scores for our company?   First, having a dedicated Compliance Department to track and manage sample schedules is key.  They are also able to push compliance deadlines, including resampling, corrective actions and responses to the inspections, in a timely manner.  Additionally, the company’s leadership has made a focused effort to ensure that the right people are in the right positions to operate and manage our facilities.  And, of course, educating the staff on compliance requirements has also proven vital in ensuring compliant operations.

“We were excited to see these scores come out,” said Bryce.  “We have seen our teams working to make improvements around their facilities. We have empowered them to make decisions that will improve operations.  We have even equipped them with knowledge to better understand processes. Now we are seeing the results of these measures, and I couldn’t be prouder of their effort.”

While these numbers are exceptional, it’s not time to take our foot off the gas.  We appreciate everyone’s commitment to maintaining compliance throughout each and every project.
