CWS’s Fayetteville Project Manager, Melvin Jackson, and Monica Glenn recently visited The Forest School: An Acton Academy in Fayetteville, GA, to share their expertise in water systems with upper elementary learners. The students are beginning a hands-on Quest focused on water quality and filtration, and the CWS team helped launch the unit with real-world insight and encouragement.
During the visit, learners explored the fundamentals of water contaminants, water sampling, and filtration design as they prepare to take on the role of junior water quality engineers. Over the next several weeks, students will research pollutants, test water samples, and eventually design their own small-scale filtration systems.
Melvin shared that the CWS team will be returning in the coming weeks to help evaluate the learners’ projects. “We’ll be coming back to grade their work,” he said. “These interactions help students make meaningful connections between classroom learning and professional practice.”
