Hurricanes are nothing new to the coastal regions of CWS, but every storm hits differently, and the impacts can vary immensely. Preparedness is the key to how well the water and wastewater systems withstand the storms. During the recent Hurricane Francine event, CWS teams throughout Louisiana and Mississippi were well prepared for the anticipated flooding rains and damaging winds. Impacts to the facilities were minimal and, overall, our systems weathered the storm well.
Leading up to landfall, the CWS Operations Teams spent days preparing for the storm. They secured generators and worked with CSWR to ensure safety, security, and functionality. Team members were also given time to secure their own homes and personal belongings prior to Hurricane Francine’s arrival. After the storm passed, team members were dispatched to access and assess over 130 facilities, making repairs and cleaning up debris as necessary.
Jordon DiVincenti, State Director for Louisiana, stated, “Overall, I was thoroughly pleased with the team’s preparation and response. Moreso, I was impressed with the morale, teamwork, collaboration, and selflessness to limit inconveniences to our client’s customers. I received calls from CSWR Regional Managers expressing their gratitude and appreciation of our hard work and dedication.”
